The Full Story

About

Kittatinny Lodge is a group of men from all walks of life with the common goal of improving ourselves and our community. We are of a wide variety of political beliefs, different religious backgrounds, different vocations, and we range in age from college students to men in their nineties.

In the Lodge, we are all equals. We are bound by oath to learn and grow, to be respectful of others, to be civil in our demeanor, and charitable. Masonry is not a secret organization but an organization with secrets. Those secrets are in our symbolic rituals, which we call degrees. These degrees are part of what binds us together and through their symbolism we are constantly reminded of our core values; integrity, faith, respect, charity, and community. We welcome all good men who wish to do better and be better. Our only prerequisite is that you believe in a higher power.

If you are interested in becoming a Mason, or have questions about Masonry, please reach us through our contacts link. You can also call us and leave a message at 973-948-5060. Our E-mail address is kittatinnylodge@gmail.com. We would be glad to meet you at the Lodge and personally answer any questions you may have.

Our History

Kittatinny Lodge was organized in Branchville in 1888 by a small group of farmers, tradespeople, and merchants who were masons in other Lodges around the local area. They received their charter from the Grand Lodge of New Jersey in January of 1889. They met in various buildings in the area until early in the twentieth century when they began meeting in Cook’s Hall in Branchville. The building still stands today. Cook’s Hall was the second story of what is now a restaurant and a flag store in the center of town. In 1968 the Brothers built the current building located on Route 206, North of Branchville where we still meet today.

Our Lodge

It is important to understand that a Lodge isn’t just a building. It is a group of men dedicated to our mutual goals and also bound by deep friendship. We eat together before our meetings and enjoy light refreshment and companionship after. We work together to support our community through such diverse activities as coat drives for kids, gift cards for food banks, assisting families in need after a catastrophic event or illness. We host events such as picnics, dinners, dances, etc. We visit other Lodges in our area to expand our friendships and each year we meet on a Statewide scale for our Grand Lodge. Our outreach extends to other Masons in time of need as well. Through Grand Lodge there are additional services for senior living care. In short, many of us want to be a part of something greater than ourselves. Masonry answers that for us.
